Sarah Sjostrom Returns to Top Form After Giving Birth
Swedish sprinter Sarah Sjostrom has spoken about her remarkable recovery and return to competition after giving birth to her son less than a year ago.

Swedish sprinter Sarah Sjostrom has made a triumphant return to competition, winning two medals at the European Championships just months after giving birth to her son.
In an interview with SVT, Sjostrom expressed her joy and pride at being able to compete at the highest levels of the sport again. She credits her curiosity and a good collaboration with her coach, Antonio Lutulla, for her success.
Sjostrom has been working with her current physical capabilities, which are not yet fully back to pre-pregnancy levels. She has not yet returned to full training in the gym or pool, but has been able to find an "extra gear" when it's time to compete.
Sjostrom's recent success has added to her impressive record, which includes 18 European Championship golds. She has tied with Germany's Franziska van Almsick as the winningest woman ever at the European Championships.
| Medal Count | Sarah Sjostrom | Franziska van Almsick | | --- | --- | --- | | European Championship Golds | 18 | 18 | | European Championship Medals | 30 | - |
Sjostrom's most recent medals came in the 50 butterfly and 50 free events in Paris, where she finished runner-up behind Katarzyna Wasick of Poland.
Sjostrom has been back in the water training since just over a month after giving birth, although her training has not been as structured. She has been focusing on the European Championships and has already shown her form in competition, finishing second in the 50 free at the Malmsten Swim Open Stockholm in April.
Despite acknowledging that the competition will only get faster and more difficult over time, Sjostrom is confident that she will be even better prepared for next year's challenges.
| Event | Time | Sarah Sjostrom | Katarzyna Wasick | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 50 Free | 23.86 | 23.86 | 23.84 |
Sjostrom's determination and hard work are a testament to her dedication to the sport, and fans will be eager to see what she achieves in the future.
