Editorial Policy
Our purpose is to create a precise and reliable resource for competitive swimming. The lapsandlanes site publishes only factual information directly pertaining to the event, the recorded time, and the standard it does or does not meet. We will not publish betting content, invented quotes, or any material presented as instructional health, legal or financial advice. We do not report on matters concerning a person’s private life.
The site’s content is divided into two distinct categories. Reporting is confined to the News section and concerns recent, verifiable occurrences such as competition outcomes or rule changes. All other sections, including those detailing Events, Times & Standards, Swimmers & Programmes, and Gear & Equipment, consist solely of established reference material. This material is presented neutrally, describing what is, not what has just happened.
Any claim that cannot be independently verified from primary sources, such as official results or governing body publications, is excluded. If a point of fact is contested, we will note the existence of an official record or widely recognised position without endorsing it as ultimate truth. Our role is to document the consensus view within the sport’s official framework.
All images are chosen for their illustrative value to the specific subject. We use real photographs and always provide a credit where one is supplied or required. We will never use software-generated images of a real person’s face. Diagrams or illustrative graphics are clearly identified as such.
Readers who wish to suggest a correction, propose a new reference topic, or provide official documentation for verification may contact the editorial team. Correspondence should be addressed to the editorial email published on the lapsandlanes site. We do not respond to non-factual queries or promotional submissions.
