Florida Gulf Coast Adds Maggie Davenport To Staff As Assistant Coach For 2026-27

Florida Gulf Coast University has announced the addition of Maggie Davenport as an assistant coach for the 2026-27 season.

Davenport joins the university's swimming and diving program, bringing with her head coaching experience from Siena and a decorated swimming career of her own.

According to the university, Davenport spent the past two seasons as the head coach of Siena's Women's Swimming and Diving program. In her first year at the helm, she led the Saints to their first ECAC Winter Championship since 2015 and was honored with ECAC Women's Coach of the Meet. That season also saw the program set 22 top-10 times and four program records.

Before returning to Siena, Davenport served two seasons as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at Union College. Her swimmers combined for 138 lifetime-best times, 112 championship finalist swims, 16 new top-10 program times, four school records and three NCAA B cuts.

Davenport has also held coaching positions at SUNY New Paltz and the Schenectady Saratoga Sharks Swim Club. She has also served as a volunteer with non-profits through the Franciscan Volunteer Ministry.

A standout swimmer in her own right, Davenport was a four-year letterwinner and team captain at Siena, competing in freestyle and breaststroke. She helped anchor the 400-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays to top-three finishes that clinched the program's first-ever ECAC Championship in 2015.

Davenport earned her B.S. in Biology from Siena in 2019 and her M.S. in Kinesiology from Southeastern University in 2022.

The university's head coach, Dave Rollins, expressed his excitement about Davenport's addition to the team, stating, "We are excited to welcome Maggie to the Nest. We had tremendous interest in this position and in our program, which is a credit to all those who have been a part of our growth. Maggie will be a tremendous addition, and we cannot wait to get started!
