The Fishers Area Swimming Tigers (FAST) have hired two new assistant coaches. The club announced the addition of former collegiate standouts MacKenzie Looze and Kyle Whitaker to its staff.

MacKenzie Looze joins FAST as a part-time assistant coach. She will also work full-time at Riley Children's Hospital. Looze retired from competitive swimming in 2023 to pursue a graduate degree in speech pathology in Boston.

Looze's Competitive Pedigree

Looze swam for five years at Indiana University. She was a five-time NCAA All-American. Her biggest achievement was winning the 200-meter long course breaststroke national championship in 2022.

That performance earned her a spot on the US National Team for the 2022-2023 season. She represented the United States at the Duel in the Pool against Australia in 2022. Looze is the daughter of Ray Looze, the long-time head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers swim program.

Whitaker's Coaching Role

Kyle Whitaker has been hired as a full-time assistant coach. His responsibilities will include working with the Tiger Stripes, National, and Elite training groups. Whitaker will also serve as the club's Business Manager.

Whitaker is originally from Chesterton, Indiana. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2018 with a Master of Science degree in Historical Preservation.

Whitaker's Swimming Career

Kyle Whitaker was a highly decorated swimmer in high school and college. He swam for Chesterton High School, leading his team to state championship titles in 2008 and 2009. Individually, he won eight state titles and was part of four winning relay teams.

His high school success was recognized nationally. Whitaker was named the National High School Coaches Association Swimmer of the Year for the 2009-10 season. He has been inducted into the Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame.

Collegiately, Whitaker competed for the University of Michigan. He was a championship finalist at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving National Championship in all four of his years with the program. He also represented the United States internationally, serving as a team captain at the World University Games.

The new hires bring significant competitive experience to the FAST coaching staff. According to the source report from SwimSwam, both coaches have deep ties to Indiana swimming.
