Louisville men's swimming ranked 12th
SwimSwam projects the University of Louisville men's swimming team to finish 12th nationally again in the 2026-27 season.

The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team is ranked 12th in SwimSwam's preseason preview for the 2026-27 NCAA season. The Cardinals finished 12th at the 2026 NCAA Championships with 83 points, their best result since 2022.
According to SwimSwam's analysis, the team faces an uphill climb to return to the top ten after losing key scorers. The preview grades each event discipline on a one-to-five-star scale based on projected points. The publication notes its assessments are made before finalized rosters are posted and do not include athletes who graduated after exhausting eligibility.
Sprint Freestyle: ★★★
This group is led by Nikita Sheremet, who scored 17 points as a freshman. Sheremet placed 7th in the 50 free (18.65) and 12th in the 100 free (41.41) at the 2026 NCAAs. He arrived with a World Junior title in the 50 freestyle.
Returners Matias Santiso, Aiden Musso, and Ethan Chauliaguet provide depth. Freshmen Aidan Kaplan and Ethan Gover add young sprint options. Gover, an in-state recruit, dropped to 20.14 in the 50 free, 44.15 in the 100 free, and 1:36.79 in the 200 free during his senior high school season.
Distance Freestyle: ★
Distance was not a major source of NCAA production last season. Gregg Enoch finished 42nd in the 500 free at NCAAs. Oscar Isberg is noted as an interesting developmental piece after posting a 4:14.90 in the 500 free as a freshman.
Kayden Lancaster and Max Hatcher provide returning depth. Freshman Lucas Jue could also contribute to the distance group.
Backstroke and Butterfly
The backstroke group, graded one star, is led by Filip Kosinski and Rian Graham. Kosinski dropped to 1:39.72 in the 200 back last season. Freshman Chase Knopf adds developmental depth.
The butterfly group earns two stars. The team loses Aidan Paro to transfer but returns Rian Graham and Aiden Musso, both sub-45-second 100 flyers. Graham's 44.93 is the second-fastest in program history. The bigger question is in the 200 fly, where the team loses Tommy Bried.
Breaststroke and Individual Medley
Jake Eccleston leads the two-star breaststroke group. He scored three individual points by finishing 14th in the 200 breast at NCAAs. Finnley Conklin provides an intriguing option after earning Second Team All-America honors on a relay and posting summer long course bests.
The individual medley group also receives two stars. The preview states the team must replace Jackson Millard, who scored nine NCAA points in the IM last season.
Relay Outlook
Relay depth has been a norm for Louisville over the last decade. At the 2026 NCAAs, the Cardinals' relays finished as follows:
| Relay | NCAA Finish |
|---|---|
| 200 Free Relay | 8th |
| 200 Medley Relay | 11th |
| 400 Medley Relay | 15th |
| 400 Free Relay | 15th |
| 800 Free Relay | 20th |
The team aims to build on this returning core. Head coach Arthur Albiero and his staff "have made a habit out of exceeding expectations," the SwimSwam preview concludes.
