Tim Hill To Enter ASCA Hall of Fame In 2026
Former Southern Illinois and Arizona State head coach Tim Hill will be inducted into the American Swimming Coaches Association Hall of Fame in September

Former Southern Illinois University swimming coach Tim Hill will be inducted into the American Swimming Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for September 10, 2026, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
Hill coached at Southern Illinois from 1980 to 1985 before leading the Arizona State University program from 1985 to 1999. His career in coaching spans more than four decades across club, collegiate, national, and international levels.
Collegiate Coaching Achievements
During his time in collegiate swimming, Hill guided teams to multiple Top 10 finishes at the NCAA Division I Women’s Championships. He coached 50 swimmers who earned over 140 All-American honors. Those athletes also received 34 Academic All-America distinctions.
His roster included several NCAA Division I champions. One of them was the first woman to break the one-minute barrier in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Broad Impact Across Swimming
Hill's influence extended far beyond the college pool. He has coached multiple Olympians and World Championship medalists. He has also served on several USA Swimming National Team staffs.
At the club level, he directed a wide range of programs. These included the Sarasota Y Sharks, Joliet YMCA Jets, First Colony Swim Team, Tidewater Aquatics Club, Piranhas Swim Team, and Sharks Swim Club. He helped develop Junior National qualifiers, National Champions, and Olympians throughout his career.
He also guided two women’s 24-hour relay teams to world-record performances. Hill has been named Coach of the Year multiple times at the state, collegiate, and national levels.
Leadership and Recognition
Beyond deck coaching, Hill has contributed through leadership and education. He has served on the ASCA Board of Directors since 2022. He has been involved with college, local LSC, and YMCA national boards.
His educational efforts include the Quantum Leap Swim Clinics. Hill has published numerous articles and presented at national and international coaching forums. Southern Illinois University previously inducted him into its Saluki Hall of Fame in 1997.
ASCA CEO Jennifer LaMont praised the 2026 inductees. "Coach Gibson and Coach Hill exemplify the very best of our profession," LaMont said. "Their impact goes far beyond wins and records-they have shaped athletes, mentored coaches, and contributed meaningfully to the growth of swimming."
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be a highlight of the 2026 ASCA World Clinic. That event runs from September 9 to 12 in Orlando.
