Louisville Hires Samson Miller As Assistant Diving Coach
The University of Louisville has appointed Samson Miller as an assistant diving coach, adding him to head coach Ryan Rougeux's staff.

The University of Louisville has hired Samson Miller as an assistant diving coach for its swim and dive program. Head diving coach Ryan Rougeux announced the appointment, bringing Miller on staff for the Cardinals.
Miller arrives in Louisville after two seasons as the head coach of Baylor Dive Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. During his tenure, he coached the 2026 Tennessee girls' state champion, developed two NISCA All-American athletes, and guided ten athletes to the 2026 AAU and USA Diving Junior National Championships. He significantly expanded the club's roster from a small group to over 50 divers in his first year, with several moving on to compete at the NCAA level.
Coaching Background
Before leading the Baylor club, Miller was the program director and owner of Wahoo Dive Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, from 2021 to 2024. There, he coached five individual Virginia state champions and one NISCA All-American athlete. He also guided two USA Junior National qualifiers and was named the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Associations (VISAA) Diving Coach of the Year in 2023. His club produced multiple athletes who went on to compete in NCAA Division I.
Statements from the Coaches
Head coach Ryan Rougeux expressed enthusiasm for the new hire. "I am very excited to welcome Samson to our staff as assistant diving coach," Rougeux said. "Samson brings great knowledge and a genuine love for the sport that is contagious."
Miller also shared his thoughts on joining the Louisville program. "I am thrilled to join the Louisville swim and dive program and honored to be working alongside Ryan, Arthur [Albiero], and the rest of the coaching staff," Miller stated. "Ryan has built this program into one of the top diving teams in the country, and I'd like to thank him for the opportunity to be a part of its continued success."
Miller's Athletic and Coaching Roots
Miller is a 2020 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he dove for the Cavaliers during the 2016-2017 season. His own diving career began at Dominion Dive Club in Fairfax, Virginia. There, he earned recognition as a four-time NISCA All-American and qualified for the USA Diving Junior National Championships annually.
His coaching career started in 2012 at Greenbriar Pool Club. He served as the head coach at that club from 2015 until 2021. Miller now looks ahead to the upcoming season with the Cardinals, noting the team's established tradition of excellence. He said he is grateful for the chance to work with the squad and is eager for the 2026-27 season.
