Julian Granison has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Florida. The West Palm Beach native will join the Gators' swimming program in the fall of 2027.
Granison is a "Best of the Rest" ranked recruit in the boys high school class of 2027. He shared his decision on social media, writing, "I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to the university of Florida." He thanked coaches Jack and Nesty for the opportunity and his mother for her support.
Recent Performances
Granison most recently competed at Summer Juniors in early August. He earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a lifetime best of 22.31 seconds. He also placed third in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking another personal best of 49.94. His final 'A' final appearance at the meet came in the 50-yard butterfly, where he finished fifth in 24.52.
Last November, he won a Florida high school state title. He touched first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.11 at the FHSAA Class 4A State Championship. He had swum a lifetime best of 20.07 during the preliminary session.
Event Times and Team Context
The recruit's best short-course yard times position him as a sprint specialist for the Gators. According to SwimSwam, his top marks are as follows:
| Event | Time |
|---|---|
| 50 free | 19.94 |
| 100 free | 43.64 |
| 100 fly | 48.36 |
Granison's times are approaching the level required to score at the SEC Championships. This past season, it took a 19.57 to final in the 50-yard freestyle at the conference meet. The Florida men had five scorers in that event at the 2026 SEC Championships, with two in the 'A' final, one in the 'B' final, and two in the 'C' final. The cutoff to final in the 100-yard freestyle was 42.95.
Joining a Powerhouse
He will join a Florida program that is among the nation's elite. The Gator men finished second at the 2026 NCAA Championships with 416 points, trailing only Texas. Josh Liendo led that team with individual wins in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 butterfly. Florida also placed second at the 2026 SEC Championships, again behind Texas.
Granison trains with the Jupiter Dragons Swim Team and Wahoos of Wellington. He has competed for both Wellington High School and Jupiter High School. He is scheduled to arrive on campus alongside fellow commits Griffin Oehler and Trent Allen as part of the class of 2031.
