American swimmer Evan Wilkerson set a pending world record in the S11 men's 100 backstroke on the final night of the Para Pan Pacific Championships at Mt. San Antonio College. Wilkerson had swum a 1:04.84 in the morning preliminaries before lowering the mark significantly in the final. The world record is pending classification review.
American Record Haul
Katie Kubiak set her fifth and sixth American records of the meet in the SM5 200 individual medley. She swam a 3:29.68 in prelims and then a 3:27.29 in the final, which was more than 15 seconds quicker than the previous national mark.
Olivia Chambers twice lowered the S12 women's 50 freestyle American record, finishing at 28.34. Piper Sadowski set American records in the SM14 200 IM (2:44.68) and the 100 backstroke (1:23.99). Each swimmer set three American marks during the championships.
Ali Truwit lowered the S10 100 backstroke American record to 1:08.40, earning a silver medal. Teammate Gia Pergolini (S13) took bronze in that event with a 1:06.21. Mallory Weggemann, an SM7 swimmer, won gold in the SM7 200 IM in 2:54.60.
Medal Table Standings
The United States finished level with Brazil for second place on the overall medal table. Both nations won 16 medals (six gold, five silver, five bronze). Australia topped the standings with 33 total medals (10 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze).

International Highlights
Australia's Rowan Crothers led an S10 podium sweep in the men's 100 freestyle. He won gold in 23.27, followed by Tom Gallagher (23.46) and Alex Tuckfield (24.01).
Ben Hanse, an S14 swimmer, won the men's 100 backstroke in 56.26, with Japan's Masaki Saito taking silver in 59.59. Canada's Katie Cosgriffe, an S10 swimmer, won the women's 100 backstroke in 1:08.10 ahead of Truwit and Pergolini. Cosgriffe later set a Canadian and Americas record of 1:05.77 for silver in the 100 butterfly, behind Japan's Aira Kinoshita (1:06.57). Kinoshita, an S14 swimmer, also won the 200 IM in 2:28.58.
Canada's Aurelie Rivard, an S10 swimmer, won the women's 50 freestyle in 27.33. Brazil's Gabriel Bandeira won the S14 men's 200 IM in 2:06.94 and also posted the top time in the S15 100 butterfly, a 55.78. For more detailed athlete information, visit our squad page.
